Course Description
This session explores practical strategies for occupational therapists to practice at the top of their license scope by effectively advocating within their facilities. Using medication management as a compelling case study, I’ll share my journey of leveraging AOTA position papers and evidence-based practice to expand OT’s recognized role in this critical occupation. Participants will learn a replicable framework for identifying practice opportunities, gathering supporting documentation, building stakeholder coalitions, and implementing change management strategies that elevate the profession’s value while improving client outcomes. This interactive session will provide actionable tools for therapists to address institutional barriers, navigate interprofessional dynamics, and confidently demonstrate OT’s unique contributions to medication management and beyond.
