Course Description
Step beyond traditional dementia care models with occupational therapist Monika Lukasiewicz as she shares her lived experience from the frontlines of home-based, community-centered dementia care. In this compelling and practical session, Monika introduces the “Triangle of Insight” to help families and clinicians navigate the complex interplay between the person, care partner, and environment.
Learn how evidence-based programs like Skills to Care and the COPE Program can transform care delivery through non-pharmacological, tailored strategies rooted in occupational therapy. This is not a beginner’s overview—it’s a powerful invitation to reimagine what’s possible in dementia care through innovation, compassion, and community.
Speakers
Monika Lukasiewicz
Monika Lukasiewicz, an occupational therapist based in Arizona, has nearly 15 years of experience as a clinician. She recently spent three years under a Federal Grant (ACL) supporting the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Program Initiative (ADPI). During this time, she innovated the evidence-based COPE program, making it Medicare-reimbursable and one of Arizona’s first pre-approved, dementia-specific options for voucher funding. She is now transitioning to private practice, focusing on strengthening dementia care and developing sustainable, evidence-inspired models.
