Course Description
This session will focus on LGBTQIA plus healthcare in the US. Struggles for this community across the lifespan, and ways to advocate for this community as an OT practitioner.

Lauren Burns, pronouns she/her, is an occupational therapist who currently works at a skilled nursing facility in Columbus, Ohio where she is also the director of rehab. Lauren has been an occupational therapist for 6 years and has spent those years working with older adults in a skilled nursing setting. Lauren has a passion for working with older adults and for inclusion of LGBTQIA+ individuals in health care. She strives to be a positive light and ally to all she meets. Lauren is happily married to her husband Andy, and they live with their dog and cat. Lauren enjoys reading, crocheting, singing in the choir at church, watching NCIS, and spending time with her husband and friends.
