Advocacy is about trying to convince someone to agree with our point of view. But how do we do that? The first step is to show someone why they should care – and we do that by speaking to their goals and their motivations.

As practitioners, we already do this every day with our patients. We gather information on the patient’s goals and then incorporate those goals into our discussions of interventions and services. We can take that very same approach when speaking to legislators, management, and other individuals who influence how we practice.

This session will provide brief updates on the current political landscape and what topics are important to different decision makers so you can enter meetings feeling prepared and empowered.
