Welcome to Amplify OT. This orientation lesson is designed to help you confidently integrate the Learning Platform into your OT or OTA curriculum with ease—just like you would a traditional textbook, but with added flexibility, video content, and built-in accountability tools.
The Mastering OT Policy and Medicare course is approximately 6 hours of content with over 30 lessons. It’s a LOT of information.Â
Health policy and billing content are new to most students, especially if they are still on their parents’ health insurance. Finding ways to discuss real-world scenarios or flip the classroom can help with student understanding.
I strongly recommend spreading our lessons over multiple courses for optimal exposure and understanding of the content.

1. Use It Like a Textbook—But Better
Recommended Approach:
Assign Amplify OT lessons as out-of-class preparation or reinforcement material, just like you would textbook readings.
Before Lecture:
Have students complete a lesson prior to the in-class discussion so they arrive with foundational knowledge. This approach is especially helpful for more complex topics such as the 8-minute rule, timed codes, and the reimbursement lessons in Module 2.
After Lecture:
Use Amplify OT to reinforce or expand upon complex topics that may not get enough classroom time.
2. Support Active Learning with Quizzes
Each lesson includes a 5-question multiple-choice quiz. All students will see the same questions, but the questions and answers are in a randomized order for each attempt.
Students will have three attempts to achieve the highest score.
Faculty Tip:
Use quizzes for completion grades to encourage engagement.
Accountability Options:
- Ask students to upload their quiz certificates to your LMS (e.g., Canvas or Blackboard)
- Set a minimum score (e.g., 80%) to mark the lesson as completed
- Certificates will be issued for each attempt, regardless of the individual’s score
3. Use Worksheets & Handouts as Assignments
Many lessons include downloadable worksheets to assist with note-taking or to compare information.
You can:
- Assign worksheets as homework or reflection prompts
- Use them for in-class activities or discussions
- Treat them as study tools for quizzes or fieldwork prep
The worksheets are embedded into the handouts for each module and can be downloaded in the “Lesson Materials” tab.
Faculty also have access to these worksheets on the Faculty Dashboard as part of the Faculty Guide.

5. Set Expectations with Your Students
Make it clear how and when students should engage with the platform:
- Will you use Amplify OT every week or just for specific units?
- Do students need to complete all lessons or just certain ones?
- How should they submit proof of completion (certificates, LMS check-in, etc.)?
